VOLUNTEERING

SIGN UP TO VOLUNTEER
Mitchell PTA's numerous events and programs are possible thanks to the help of amazing volunteers. All help is welcomed! From a few hours whenever you are available, to becoming part of a committee, we gladly welcome any time you can provide! 

Committees & Programs
  • 6th Grade Committee: Assemble year-round festivities for the graduating 6th graders, including a fundraiser, T-shirt, bake sale, toga days, end-of-year party, and promotion decorations. This is a year-long committee.
  • Book Fair: Works with book fair vendor and the school to coordinate all of the logistics for hosting two, on-campus book fairs in Fall and Spring.
  • Communications: Oversees monthly PTA newsletter, social media, and website updates. This is a year-long committee.
  • Fall Festival: Works with multiple vendors and the school to coordinate all of the logistics for hosting our annual on-campus carnival in October. This committee works June-Oct. 
  • Family Movie Night: Plans all of the details (movie, date, snacks) for two family movie nights. 
  • Holiday Boutique: Plans all logistics for our on-campus, holiday store where students can find gifts for their family & friends. This committee works Sept.-Dec.                                                                                                                     
  • ​Hospitality/Teacher Appreciation Week: Helps plan annual Back to School Night (Aug./Sept.). Oversees Teacher Appreciation Week planning and execution (May). Supports all PTA meetings (Executive Board & Association) with snacks and water. This is a year-long committee. 
  • Membership: Develops a campaign drive to spark new PTA memberships & renewals among families. This committee works July-Oct.
  • Multicultural Night: Helps plan a family multicultural nights where Mitchell families can present details about their cultures.  
  • Programs/Assemblies: Researches and works with vendors to produce on-campus assemblies for the students (based on revenue earned from annual fundraiser). Assemblies take place at various times during the year (no more than 2-3). PTA already has vendor information from previous assemblies that can help with coordination of events.                                             
  • Reflections: Coordinates logistics for this art contest hosted by National PTA every fall during the school year. This competition is held at the school, district, council, state, and national levels. There is a new theme every year and multiple art mediums (i.e., art, photography, writing, dance, etc.) accepted. This committee oversees the "school level" competition and works Aug-Oct.              ​     
  • Restaurant Nights: Researches and coordinates logistics with local eateries to host monthly fundraisers. This is a year-long committee. 
  • Silent Auction: Procures items for PTA's annual silent auction fundraiser, held in the MPR during Fall Festival. Money earned pays for field trips. This committee works June-Oct.
  • Spirit Wear: Works with vendor to create/develop apparel items for annual Spirit Wear drive. This committee works late July-early Oct.   
  • Step It up : Helps coordinate the Step It Up fundraiser which kicks off in August. Participation is also needed for the Day of Awesomeness event which happens in early October.
  • Student Store: Runs a storefront every Wednesday out of the PTA room where students can purchase inexpensive items such as pencils, erasers, knick knacks, etc. This is a year-long committee.                             
  • Variety Show: Plans and produces the Mitchell annual talent show.
  • ​​Yearbook: Designs annual yearbook. Coordinates with vendor. Oversees sale of books on campus. This is a year-long committee (with heavy emphasis Jan-June).
