OUR COMMITTEES

Mitchell PTA's numerous events and programs are supported by several volunteers who work on the committees listed below. Please note there are several openings for the 2022-2023 school year. Thanks for your consideration in helping to make our PTA  as successful as possible.

• 6th Grade Committee: Assemble all of the year-round festivities for the graduating 6th graders, including a fundraiser, T-shirt, bake sale, Toga Days, end-of-year party, and promotion decorations. This is a year-long committee.

• APEX Fundraiser: Coordinates all of the logistics with the vendor to conduct our annual on-campus fundraiser; held in Aug.-Sept.). This committee works July-October.
  ​
• Book Fair: Works with vendor and the school to coordinate all of the logistics for hosting two, on-campus book fairs in Nov. and March. This committee works heavily in fall and spring.

• Communications: Oversees monthly PTA newsletter, social media, and website updates. This is a year-long committee.
  ​
• Fall Festival: Works with multiple vendors and the school to coordinate all of the logistics for hosting our annual on-campus carnival in October. This committee works June-Oct. 
  ​
• Family Movie Night: Plans all of the details for this one-night event in January. This committee works Nov.-Jan. In need of a chairperson for 2022-2023 school year. ​                                                                                                                                                
• Holiday Boutique: Plans all logistics for our on-campus, holiday store where students can find gifts for their family & friends. This committee works Sept.-Dec.                                                                                                                             
• ​Hospitality/Teacher Appreciation Week: Supports all PTA meetings (Executive Board & Association) with food/beverage. Helps plan annual Back to School Night (Aug./Sept.). Oversees Teacher Appreciation Week planning and execution (May). This is a year-long committee. 

 

• Membership: Develops a campaign drive to spark new PTA memberships & renewals among families. This committee works July-Oct.

• Popsicle Friday: Oversees an on-campus popsicle stand on Fridays for students to purchase tasty treats. This committee works Sept.-early Nov. and Apr.-early June.                                                                                                                                                              
• Programs/Assemblies: Researches and works with vendors to produce on-campus assemblies for the students (based on revenue earned from annual fundraiser). Assemblies take place at various times during the year (no more than 2-3). This committee works primarily Jan-May. In need of a chairperson for 2022-2023 school year.                                                                                                                                   
• Reflections: Coordinates logistics for this art contest hosted by National PTA every fall during the school year. This competition is held at the school, district, council, state, and national levels. There is a new theme every year and multiple art mediums (i.e., art, photography, writing, dance, etc.) accepted. This committee oversees the "school level" competition and works Aug-Oct. In need of a chairperson for 2022-2023 school year.                                                                                                                                                                                ​     
• Restaurant Nights: Researches and coordinates logistics with local eateries to host monthly fundraisers. This is a year-long committee.                                                                                                                                                                                   
• Silent Auction/Disneyland Ticket Raffle: Procures items for PTA's annual silent auction fundraiser, held in the MPR during Fall Festival. Includes hosting a raffle for Disneyland tickets. Money earned pays for field trips. This committee works June-Oct.                                                                                                                                                                            
• Spirit Wear: Works with vendor to create/develop apparel items for annual Spirit Wear drive. This committee works late July-early Oct.                                                                                                                                                                                                           
• Student Store: Runs a storefront every Tuesday out of the PTA room where students can purchase inexpensive items such as pencils, erasers, knick knacks, etc. This is a year-long committee.                                                                                               
• Variety Show: Plans and produces the Mitchell annual talent show, which takes place in May. This committee works Jan.-May.

• Yearbook: Designs annual yearbook. Coordinates with vendor. Oversees sale of books on campus. This is a year-long committee (with heavy emphasis Jan-June).
